Ade is a Fulbright 22/23 Distinguished Scholar!
Ade has won a coveted Fulbright Distinguished Scholar Award to spend time in Boston and conduct vital research into the backstory to the Phillis in London project.
She will be based in the Writing, Literature and Publishing Programme at Emerson College, at its campus on Boston Common; and at the Emerson Los Angeles Campus on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood. A double-Fulbrighter, Ade’s Phillis project was actually inspired by her first Fulbright experience when – like Phillis in 1773 – she became an African woman writer abroad.
“Phillis came to London, I went to LA!” she says. “That’s one of the main reasons her story chimes so deeply with me.”
